Acknowledging your support
We would like to begin by expressing our sincere gratitude for the continued support shown throughout our first project, Hope. The level of support and trust placed in ourselves has been both recognised and deeply appreciated. We remain committed to ensuring that all updates are communicated with clarity, transparency, and appropriate frequency as we progress through each stage of production.
On Hope’s production
We have now fully settled the production costs for the enclosures, switch plates, and authentication crests.
The carry cases will be commissioned upon receipt of the final invoice.
Gondolindrim is currently finalising the PCBs. Once completed, these will be placed into production shortly thereafter, completing the final major component required for Hope.
In total, fifty-five enclosures will be produced for Hope, inclusive of all additional units. The distribution across variants is as follows: five in Signatura, thirteen in Argentum, eleven in Caeruleus, and twenty-six in Glaucus.
With the principal production costs now settled and the remaining components nearing completion, the focus shifts towards execution and delivery. Lead times are currently in line with expectations, and fulfilment is anticipated to begin in the third quarter of this year.
Daily updates are provided via the Hope timeline, accessible through the product page and footer of our website, whilst these journal entries serve as a more considered, long-form extension of those updates.
Taking shape
We are excited to formally introduce Reign, the first keyboard enclosure within the Aeternus collection. Reign has been a passion project, developed intermittently since October 2023. Its evolution ushers in a distinctive phase for FSR, introducing innovative design and production techniques alongside the established approaches of traditional custom keyboards.
Reign is a 60 XT gasket-mount enclosure distinguished by continuous, flowing curvature and a structural philosophy that balances engineering precision with sculptural form. The enclosure presents a fully concealed exterior utilising screwed-in neodymium magnets, which facilitates straightforward user assembly.
Having reached complete confidence in both the design and its method of assembly, we have formally commissioned a prototype comprising an A96063 aluminium alloy top enclosure, finished in a silver anodised, smooth, blasted texture, paired with an A96063 aluminium alloy bottom enclosure in a dark, deep blue anodised finish of the same refinement. It is accompanied by an additional copper bottom enclosure, presented with a smooth, blasted, clear-coated finish, as well as a selection of switch plates machined from carbon fibre, transparent polycarbonate, and A95052 aluminium alloy, each selected for its distinct material qualities, and, in collaboration with Gondolindrim, the MX PCB design has also been commissioned—marking a significant milestone for a concept that has been under careful and considered development for more than two years.
Due to the unusually intricate machining process required to realise this enclosure, production units for each drop will naturally be limited. The design demands substantially more time, precision, and care than a traditional custom keyboard, and as a result, Reign will occupy the very highest end of the market. Its price will reflect the complexity of its creation, positioning it among the most exclusive pieces available within the hobby.
We look forward to sharing further insights into Reign’s development as it continues to take shape.
A note of thanks
It is a privilege to bring these projects to life, and we are sincerely appreciative of the confidence placed in us. Each step forward is made more meaningful by that trust.
Jack.
